Our activities

We believe that equity cannot exist without community, and that community cannot exist without collaboration.

That's why we work closely with our corporate partners, donors and volunteers to create career-readiness Lotus Flower Programmes and provide opportunities for workplace mentorship. Our approach is holistic and gender-specific, aimed at empowering migrant women to achieve empowered employment.

“I feel lucky that my role has enabled me to work with such a welcoming, dedicated, inspiring group of people who are fighting the good fight.”

The Lotus Flower Programme

Created in collaboration with private sector companies, our intensive 9-week Lotus Flower Programmes focus on future-proof career readiness training, female mentorship, job shadowing and placement opportunities for groups of 8-10 participants at a time.

Leveraging the unique expertise of our corporate partners, each programme's curriculum is tailor-made to empower our participants with the knowledge, network and in-demand skills needed to enter and thrive in the Dutch labour market.

Following an initial career-mapping stage, our participants attend 2-3 weekly workshops and mentorship sessions facilitated by the sponsor's employees – with past workshops covering topics like Supply Chain Management, Data Science & Python 101, Intercultural Communication and Personal Branding. We also include confidence building workshops, for example, Self-Defence Training with our partner JUNO. Finally, each participant is also matched with a female mentor they'll meet weekly for programme guidance and support.

After completing the programme, participants attend a graduation ceremony where they receive a certificate and get ready to begin the employment process with She Matters Recruitment.

Becoming a graduate

Our Lotus Flower Programmes were created specifically for migrant women living in the Netherlands with a professional background. Each programme has capacity for 8-10 participants who are specialists in their field and also meet the following criteria:

– College-level degree (minimum two years);
– Valid Dutch residence permit;
– Completion of the Dutch Civic Integration exam;
– Experience using American, British or Canadian-standard workplace English in their country of origin;
– Proven adaptability and communication skills;
– Personal motivation to enter the labour market.

Become a corporate partner

Our corporate partners can support She Matters Foundation through the joint creation and execution of a Lotus Flower Programme, sponsoring a programme scholarship, or in-kind contributions such as workshop facilitators, female mentors or project managers.

If you're ready to be part of the change and have a great time doing it, we'd love to hear from you.
