R&D Product Technologist
Our client is a Dutch family company, boasting a 150-year legacy of craftsmanship, that has evolved into an international organisation with notable growth potential and development opportunities, and is currently seeking a R&D Product Technologist to join their team in Roermond.
Hoogeland-Kristen, located in Roermond, has been building its rich history in the artisanal production of quality candles since 1770. Your mission involves to lead and develop R&D for Hoogeland-Kristen and provide technology support for Marketing and Sales. In addition to this core responsibility, you will play a pivotal role in fueling innovation by facilitating technological advancements in production within the organisation.
The launch of their first collection is scheduled for 2025. As an R&D Product Technologist, you play a crucial role in shaping the future of their exclusive candle collection, developed in collaboration with leading design studios. Approximately 90% of future activities are expected to focus on the luxury segment, with an emphasis on a varied assortment of exclusive, limited edition candles.
As R&D Product Technologist, you will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with colleagues from Marketing, Sales, and Production.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and executing innovation projects to renew their high-end candle collection
- Experimenting out-of-the-box with raw materials, compositions, and formulas, making use of their partly renewed machinery
- Continuously improving and professionalising their production processes, in collaboration with the production leader
- Defining quality standards and formula management to exceed customer expectations
- Actively implementing the company’s sustainability strategy
- Collaborating with experts within R&D and Procurement departments of the company in Schijndel to share knowledge and achieve strategic advantages
- Supporting Sales with substantive advice on specific customer cases or requests
Requirements:
- A relevant Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree, such as Chemical Technology or Chemical Engineering (or related) and who has gained experiences in a similar position
- Experience in the development and production of candles is not a must, as they are open to new fresh perspectives
- You have analytical and strategic thinking, pragmatic (hands-on) approach, you are innovative, quality-oriented, strong in collaboration and persuasion, driven, planning and organising, big-picture perspective
- You have a good command of the Dutch and English language in speech and writing (German is a plus)
- You excel in a “startup-like dynamic”, supported by the knowledge and resources
