Shucheesmita Simonti is originally from Bangladesh. Her passion includes migration and gender, peacebuilding, inter-faith dialogues, women empowerment and human rights.
She is working as editor of Women Chapter’s English website, a women-centric online portal founded in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is also currently working as Policy Director at Safety First for Girls Outreach Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation based in Zambia. She is also part of the Bangladesh Workgroup at the Hague Peace Projects.
She is one of the young leaders of Women Deliver Young Leader 2018 Program, a program that brings together youth advocates of gender equality from all over the world. She was a participant of AGORA 2018 – the Young Feminist Summer Camp organised by the European Women’s Lobby.
Shucheesmita’s maternal family had fled to India during the 1971 war, and she grew up hearing about their experiences as refugees. From childhood, she cultivated an interest in the issues of migration, war, and women’s empowerment. It is her long-term interest in these issues that brought her to She Matters, as she feels connected to the mission of She Matters.Shucheesmita Simonti
