Centine Johannson is an International Relations major at the University of St. Andrews, where she recently completed her second year. Her academic interests focus primarily on security and conflict studies, specifically researching cases in the Middle-East.
Before interning with She Matters, Centine served as an intern for Senator Ed Markey and Congressman Stephen Lynch (Boston, MA) where she assisted on immigration and foreign policy casework. While interning for Senator Markey, Centine took great interest in cases regarding asylum seekers’ applications hoping to find protection in the United States. This internship experience sparked her understanding that we, as a global community, cannot be expected to succeed if we continue to turn a blind eye to refugees.
Centine is increasingly excited to intern for She Matters to fight for refugees’ place in the labour market and ultimately alter the global narrative of refugees. While interning at She Matters, Centine will work together with female newcomers to utilise their talent and further integrate them into their new society.
