Marialena Papaioannou was born and raised in Greece, in a family with many children and old family members, and quickly learned how to respect and care for others. Ms Papaioannou lived in Athens where she studied Archaeology and History of Art and then moved to Rotterdam to attend a Master’s in Art, Culture, and Society.

Her studies gave her the chance to understand that we are citizens of the world. Living a couple of years in Rotterdam in a super-diverse society and in combination with her volunteer experience with vulnerable groups developed a great understanding of diversity and inclusion for our social needs and requirements.

By working in various fields, Ms Papaioannou seized the opportunity to be in contact with different nationalities and personalities. She got inspired and took into consideration that cultural differences can only be bridged by understanding peoples’ mentalities and by listening to life experiences.

Now, Ms Papaioannou is a recruiter at She Matters and is thrilled to be part of the team which shows empathy, accomplishes its goals, and has a positive impact on our society.
